Akal College of Education for Women, Fatehgarh Chhanna, Sangrur marks the fulfillment of the long-cherished desire of Late Honourable Sardar Gurbaksh Singh Sibia. The process of its consummation was faithfully pursued by his worthy son Sardar Teghvir Singh Sibia, the present President of the Governing body and his associates such as Principal Surjit Singh Gandhi (Retd.) Secretary, S. Narendra Singh Mann Joint Secretary, Principal Sivraj Kaur Director, Dr. Harjit Kaur, S. Pirthipal Singh, S. Gurbir Singh & other members of the Governing Body. Ultimately having gone through the rough and tumble of bureaucratic labyrinths, the Governing Body succeeded in getting affiliation of the Punjabi University, Patiala.
